The First Presbyterian Church of Rome will host a concert to benefit the Rome-Area Hunger Walk at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27 in the church sanctuary.
The 40-voice Oneida Area Civic Chorale Tour Ensemble will perform. It will be a kick-off concert for their upcoming two-week tour of Southern France. The concert consists of a variety of sacred music and spirituals. The ensemble is directed by Kimberly Nethaway and will be accompanied on piano by Colleen Pellman and Bernadette VanValkenburg. A free-will offering will be taken in support of the RAHW.
The Rome-Area Hunger Walk is held on the third Sunday of each October to raise awareness and funds for those in need in the community. All funds collected are shared with the agencies and services supported by the walk. They include the Rome Salvation Army, St. Joseph’s Food Pantry in Lee Center, Foothills Pantry in Holland Patent, Catholic Charities of Rome, St. Peter’s Mission of the Christ Child and the Rome Rescue Mission, among others.
The Hunger Walk Coordinating Team is comprised of members of local agencies and churches. The Oct. 20 RAHW event will step off from the First Presbyterian Church at 108 W. Court St.
