REMSEN — The Remsen community is hoping to help shower Burlie Jones Pugh with birthday cards.

Pugh, who turns 102 on \Wednesday, May 4, has lived in Remsen her entire life. For the last 82 years, she has resided on the corner of Fairchild Road and Bardwell Mills. Before that, she spent the first 20 years of her life on her parents farm on Lake Julia Road.

Pugh, her fellow Remsonians say, loves the community, her Welch Heritage, and spending time with her family. Her favorite activity is playing Crazy 5’s with her family!

After retiring from farming, Burlie worked for Troop D Barracks in Remsen for 39 years, retiring from the Remsen State Police Station at the age of 80. Although she has been retired for more than two decades, she still has a great fondness for the troopers.

Community members are hoping to show their appreciation for her with a host of birthday cards. Cards can be sent to her attention at 10947 Fairchild Road, Remsen, NY 13438.

Pugh, friends say, still revels in the thought of her 100th birthday and a special parade that members of the Remsen community — and beyond — held in her honor.
