Common Council holds first meeting of 2023
ONEIDA — The city’s first Common Council meeting of the year was a quick one.
Mayor Helen Acker said this meeting was housekeeping for the city.
Tuesday’s meeting had a public hearing and eight items on the agenda resolved in less than 10 minutes. The public hearing on a local law to amend Chapter 129 of the Oneida City Code, had no one sign up for it — as well as no one signing up for public comment period.
The organizational resolution saw the city designate Common Council meeting times, its official newspaper and banks, and approved the crime protection policy for public entities limits.
Deputy City Clerk Andrea Hitchings was appointed city historian for 2023.
