UTICA — When the New Jersey Devils began their affiliation with the Utica Comets earlier this year, it meant a switch from the blue and green of the Vancouver Canucks to the Devils’ red and black. The team — and parts of the Utica Aud — is now sporting those new colors.
The Comets have a red jersey with black and white striping on the sleeves. Those will be paired with red socks with the same white-and-black stripes. The players’ numbers will be in white, outlined in black. The other jersey is white with red and black striping. Those will be paired with white socks with red-and-black stripes. The numbers on those jerseys are red, outlined in black. The crest of the jerseys are the same as in years past — a puck swooping across the chest below the “Utica Comets” word mark — but now it’s in the new colors. The gloves are primarily red, with black and white accents. The helmet colors are not included in the team’s uniform graphics, but based on the New Jersey uniforms, the Comets will likely wear black helmets with the red jerseys and white helmets with white jerseys.
The Comets used to have three jerseys as the AHL affiliate of the Canucks — one white, one blue and one green — but will stick to two with the Devils.
There will, however, be three specialty uniforms used during the season, though their designs have not been revealed yet.
The team will have a Veterans Day jersy on Nov. 11, the Save the Day jersey Feb. 2-5 and a jerseys for the Roaring 20s on March 12.

The team then hosts the Providence Bruins at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 22. Their first road game is at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 23 against the Syracuse Crunch.
The team has its last game at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 22 at home against Rochester.
