Comets sign forward Keppen to amateur tryout contract


UTICA — The Utica Comets have signed forward Ethan Keppen to amateur tryout contract, according to the Associated Press.

Keppen, age 20, was drafted in the fourth round of the 2019 draft by the Comets’ NHL parent club, the Vancouver Canucks. The 6-foot-2 left wing is from Whitby, Ontario, Canada.

He spent the last three seasons with the Flint Firebirds of the OHL, scoring a total of 56 goals and collecting 50 assists in 175 games.

The Comets are slated to host Rochester on Friday in a 7 p.m. faceoff at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.
