Comets, Aud to host CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center food donations event

UTICA — The Utica Comets and the Utica Aud are partnering with the CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center for a food donation event on Nov. 11.

For the first time since opening, the CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center is not able to host its annual open house on Veteran’s Day due to the COVID-19 pandemic. To help generate donations for the center, the Aud is collecting donations of food and personal items in the lobby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 11 to help local veterans. The items requested, which can be dropped off in the lobby, include nonperishable food items, frozen turkeys, clothing, recyclables, footwear, coats, blankets and hygiene products.

Additionally, on Veterans Day, the Aud, along with members of the CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center, the American Legion, Military Order of the Purple Heart and Vietnam Veterans of America, will host their annual wreath laying ceremony at 11:30 a.m. on the plaza.

The CNY Veteran’s Outreach Center relies on donations during the holiday season to help support fall and winter projects.
