Combatants don’t cooperate after fight at Liberty Gardens

ROME — One man was hospitalized after a brawl between two men at Liberty Gardens turned into a knife attack very early Tuesday morning, according to the Rome Police Department.

No arrests have been made because police said both men declined to press charges.

Investigators said two adult males agreed to fight one another in the 500 block of Liberty Gardens at about 1 a.m. Tuesday.

When one man appeared to be winning the fight, police said the other man pulled out a pocket knife and started slashing.

The victim suffered knife wounds to his bicep and upper thigh, police said. The injuries were not life-threatening and the man was taken to an area hospital.

Police said neither man would cooperate with responding officers.
