College students charged with elementary school break-ins
MORRISVILLE — Three SUNY Morrisville students from New York City have been charged with the break-ins at Edward R. Andrews Elementary School, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said there were three recorded break-ins at the elementary school on Eaton Street in Morrisville: on Oct. 28, Oct. 31 and Nov 1, all in the early morning hours. The burglars stole several items from the school, usually food items, and sometimes personal property from staff desks.
While investigating the Nov. 1 break-in, deputies said they caught Jahmar Acosta, 19, of Staten Island, who was fleeing the scene. Deputies said they took Havis Wade, 18, of Brooklyn, into custody on the evening of Nov. 1. And 18-year-old Ezekierius Varence, of the Bronx, was taken into custody on Nov. 3, deputies stated.
All three are students at SUNY Morrisville, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Acosta and Wade are both charged with three counts each of third-degree burglary and petty larceny for participating in all three break-ins, while Varence was charged with one count each for his involvement in only the third break-in, authorities said. All three are scheduled to appear in court.
