New Colgate University coaching staff: softball, swimming and women's basketball


Edmondson named Colgate assistant softball coach

HAMILTON — Colgate University has hired Morgan Edmondson as an assistant softball coach.

Edmondson most recently served as an assistant coach at Saint Anselm College. Edmondson served the Saint Anselm campus community as an admission recruiter during her year in Manchester. Before her time at Saint Anselm, Edmondson spent time at Seton Hall University as a volunteer assistant coach. During her two years with the Pirates, Edmondson worked with the catchers, offense and the operational aspects of the team.

A former member of the Le Moyne College softball team, Edmondson is the all-time record-holder for runners caught stealing (25).

Edmondson earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2012 from Le Moyne and her master’s in sport psychology in 2015 from Seton Hall.

Colgate adds Shaffer to swim coaching staff

HAMILTON — Megan Shaffer has been hired as an assistant coach for the Colgate University swimming and diving team.

Shaffer most recently served as an assistant coach at Franklin & Marshall College. During her time with the Diplomats, Shaffer helped the program to its best finish in the NCAA Championship.

Shaffer swam for Susquehanna University, where she holds the school record for the 800-yard freestyle. One of the team captains for the River Hawks, Shaffer was named to the All-Landmark Conference eight times. Shaffer was also named to the Landmark Conference’s Winter All-Academic Team multiple times during her career.

Shaffer earned degrees in creative writing and English from Susquehanna in 2020.

Hollenshead added to Colgate University women’s basketball staff

HAMILTON — Colgate University has hired Macey Hollenshead as a women’s basketball assistant coach, completing the staff for head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan.

Hollenshead recently served as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Fairfield University. Her responsibilities included guard development, defensive liaison and analyzing opponent’s film. Fairfield had the best record in program history during her time on the coaching staff. The Stags won the MAAC Tournament, playing the No. 2 seed Texas Longhorns in the NCAA Tournament.

Before her time at Fairfield, Hollenshead was at Shepherd University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator. She helped create a recruiting pool for the rest of the coaching staff, along with creating analytical scouting reports and leading group skill development.

Prior to serving as an assistant coach, Hollenshead was a graduate assistant for the Seton Hill women’s basketball team. During her time with the Griffins, Hollenshead assisted in managing the program while also performing operational duties. Hollenshead earned her master’s degree in business administration with a focus on forensic accounting from Seton Hill in 2020.

Hollenshead played collegiately for the Stags from 2014-18. Fairfield appeared in the MAAC semi-finals two times during her time in Connecticut, along with four winning seasons. As a senior, Hollenshead led the Stags in three-point shooting at 38%.
