HAMILTON  The Colgate women’s hockey team earned the top spot in this year’s Eastern College Athletic Conference Hockey preseason poll, the league announced on Wednesday.

Danielle Serdachny, the team’s captain, and Kristýna Kaltounková also garnered Preseason All-League honors. The team also includes New Hartford native and senior defenseman Sydney Bard, who is set to serve as an assistant captain this season.

The Raiders come into the season ranked sixth in the nation in the United State College Hockey Online (USCHO) poll after finishing last season with an impressive 30-8-1 record. Colgate is coming off of back-to-back ECAC Hockey championships, receiving 115 points and six first-place votes.

Bard had a career-best 27 points during the 2021-22 season with four goals and 23 assists. She ranked 10th overall and first among defenders in ECAC Hockey in assists and points. She had five multi-point games, including two contests with three assists. Bard also blocked 27 shots and recorded a plus-28 rating.

She earned ECAC Hockey Third Team All-League accolades last season. She has accumulated 51 career points with eight goals and 43 assists. The psychology major has also been selected to both the Raider Academic Honor Roll and ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team.

Serdachny is coming off a stellar junior season after scoring 15 goals and dishing out 38 assists for 53 total points. She averaged 1.36 points per game en route to breaking a program record for most assists in a season, and earning ECAC Hockey Second Team All-League honors.

Serdachny has tallied a total of 106 points (36 goals, 72 assists) throughout three years with Colgate.

Kaltounková is coming off an impressive sophomore year in which she earned ECAC Hockey Tournament MVP, ECAC Hockey Second Team All-League honors, and USCHO Third Team All-League. She played a crucial role in Colgate’s 2021-22 season, scoring 28 goals and adding 25 assists for 53 points.

Kaltounková has racked up 71 points (34 goals, 37 assists) in 59 career games for an average of 1.20 points per game.

Colgate has an exhibition game Sunday against St. Lawrence at Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton.
