Colgate lauded with postseason All-Patriot honors
HAMILTON — Colgate’s historic regular season was recognized accordingly when the Patriot League released its major postseason awards and All-Patriot League teams Monday afternoon.
Head coach Matt Langel was named Coach of the Year, Tucker Richardson earned Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Keegan Records and Richardson earned All-Patriot League First Team and All-Defensive Team honors, Ryan garnered All-League Third Team laurels, and Braeden Smith made the All-Rookie Team.
Langel, already the first head coach in Patriot League men’s basketball history to three-peat for the Coach of the Year, is now the only coach to be voted for the award four times. The 12th-year head coach is the winningest head coach in program history with 199 career victories. He previously earned the top coaching honor for three straight seasons (2017-18, 2018-19, 2019-20).
Richardson, the only player in Patriot League men’s basketball history and one of four active players in the country with 1,600 points, 700 rebounds, and 500 assists, becomes the first player in conference history to hit the trifecta with Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and Defensive Player of the Year honors in a career.
