SCHENECTADY — The Colgate men’s hockey team dropped a 6-0 decision at No. 18 Union Saturday evening.
Union scored on a breakaway for a 1-0 lead in the first period. They scored twice in the second, including a power play tally.
Colgate sat for three additional penalties in the third period, two of which Union converted for goals.
With just under seven minutes to go in the game, the Dutchmen topped off their scoring with an even strength goal for a 6-0 final.
Freshman Mitch Benson tallied 27 saves through the first two periods, then was replaced with freshman Andrew Farrier for his first appearance since his start against Quinnipiac Dec. 29. The Montreal, Quebec, native posted 11 saves.
Colgate holds a 7-17-2 record, and a 4-8-2 mark in ECAC hockey action.
Colgate returns to Class of 1965 Arena next weekend when it hosts St. Lawrence and Clarkson in league play. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday.
