Colgate Bookstore sponsors ‘Chillin’-OUT’ with Friends of Rogers

Has cabin fever hit early this year? Friends of Rogers has the cure!

On Jan. 15, children ages 7-10 have the opportunity to explore Rogers Environmental Education Center in Sherburne and learn about the great outdoors.

During “Chillin’-OUT” participants will explore the forest, hike the trails, play outdoor games, and make new friends. Plus nature crafts and the always-popular “snack”-tivity will be part of the day’s agenda, according to a program announcement by the Friends of Rogers.

“This unique program encourages kids to have outdoor winter adventures,” said Sarah Freedman, Friends of Rogers environmental educator.

“While the temperatures may be low, energy and fun will be at record highs,” Freedman added.

Pre-registration must be made by Jan. 11; the rate is $30 per day for members and $35 for non-members.

Also available are activities before (8-9 a.m.) and after (4-5:30 p.m.) for an additional $7.50 per session, per child.

“We are grateful to the Colgate Bookstore for partnering with us,” said Simon Solomon, executive director.

“This collaboration is allowing us to provide local children engaging alternatives to sedentary winter activities, while inspiring them to interact more with the natural world,” Solomon said.
