HAMILTON — Highlighted by a four-day swing in Florida, a trip to Syracuse and two home contests in the Central New York Classic, Colgate has announced the men’s basketball schedule for the 2018-19 season.
Colgate will play 31 games in all, including 13 contests at Cotterell Court. The Raiders once again have a tough non-conference schedule with two opponents featured from power five conferences. C
olgate will face 2018 Sweet 16 participant Syracuse, NIT Champion Penn State, perennial Atlantic Sun powerhouse Florida Gulf Coast and ACC foe Pitt all before Patriot League play begins in January.
The Raiders open their season on Nov. 6 at NJIT with tip slated for 7 p.m. in the first matchup of the CNY Classic. Colgate then returns for its home debut against Monmouth Nov. 9, before a trip to Cornell commences a three-game stretch of the CNY Classic Nov. 11. T
he final two games of the Classic will be at Cotterell Court, as Colgate hosts Nazareth (Nov. 14) and Binghamton (Nov. 19).
On Wednesday, Nov. 21, Colgate visits the Carrier Dome to face Syracuse on the eve of Thanksgiving.
Patriot League action is set to open at Navy on Jan. 3, opening a stretch of 18 consecutive league games to close out the regular season.
The Raiders,. coached by Matt Langel, return 11 members from last year’s squad that posted a 19-14 overall record, finished second in the Patriot League in the regular season, and advanced to the league championship for the first time since 2007-08.
