TOWN OF MARCY — An employee at the Central New York Psychiatric Center is accused of forging doctor’s notes to get more time off from work.
Shelby Ferguson, 54, of Rome, submitted three forged doctor’s notes between April and September 2016, according to the state Office of the Inspector General. Authorities said Ferguson sought to get more time off than he was entitled.
Following an investigation, Ferguson was charged on Wednesday with three counts each of first-degree offering a false instrument for filing and second-degree possession of a forged instrument, both felonies, officials said.
Ferguson was arraigned in Town Court and was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to reappear in court on May 9.
