Pick a pet: Four furry friends looking for 'furever' homes
Rocky is a young (3-4 years old) and energetic boy who is looking for a new family that he can entertain for the rest of his life. He definitely loves to put on a show. Rocky is very loving but does still need some basic training to work on his manners. He is very smart and learns quickly. Rocky does get along with other dogs, yet his ability to share is lacking and needs some work. If you would like to meet him, stop by Wanderers’ Rest Humane Association, 7138 Sutherland Drive, Canastota, or give them a call at 315-697-2796.

Apollo This brindle beauty is Apollo. He is a friendly 11-month-old pup that came in as a stray. Though we don’t know anything about his past, he has been very friendly at the shelter. He is still young so he is pretty active. He is wishing for a summer full of adventures. He did well when tested with other dogs but would do best in a home without cats. His adoption fee is $120. Apply here to adopt: www.anitas-sshs.org/adopt/apply/Dog. Anita’s Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St., Utica, 315-738-4357, www.anitas-sshs.org.

Trixie is a 4-month-old female feline. She loves to talk and is very affectionate once she warms up to you. She enjoys eating soft treats and her favorite thing to do is lay in her bed all day long, like most humans. She would do well in a home with another easygoing cat about the same age as she is. No dogs or young children. It takes her time to get to know someone, a quiet household would be ideal. To visit Trixie, stop by the Humane Society of Rome, 6247 Lamphear Road, call 315-336-7070 or go to www.humanesocietyrome.com.

Sadie is around 3-years-old, housebroken, and has quite a bit of energy. She does calm down after a nice walk and when she gets out of her kennel. She gets along with dogs her size, but she can’t go in a home with cats. Once Sadie knows you, she’s a sweetheart. We really hope there is someone out there to give Sadie a chance. Sadie can’t take much more living in a kennel environment. To adopt her, visit the Herkimer County Humane Society at 514 State Route 5S in Mohawk, or call 315-866-3255.
