Club makes trio of donations to help others in need in community
ONEIDA COUNTY — The Mohican Model A Ford Club has announced the organization has made three recent charitable donations.
Names of charitable organizations were submitted by members of the club for a drawing that took place at a recent meeting.
Recipients were the Waterville Food Pantry, Hope for Heather and the Country Pantry.
Mabel and Mike Silliman presented a $200 check to the Waterville Food Pantry. The pantry is staffed and run by volunteers to serve folks who live within the Waterville Central School District and is funded by federal, state, and local grants as well as donations from individuals, organizations, churches, and businesses.
It recently benefited from food drives organized by the Cub and Boy Scouts, the Waterville elementary and junior high schools, as well as donations of food and personal care items from local churches and organizations.
A donation shed to benefit the Waterville Food Pantry is located near the front door at Nickelback Redemption.
In November, 130 families received turkeys, pies, traditional fixings, fresh potatoes, and squash for their Thanksgiving dinner courtesy of the Waterville Food Pantry.
Sharon and John Voninski presented a $200 check to Hope for Heather, an all-volunteer local non-profit dedicated to finding
a cure for ovarian cancer by funding research and improving survival through patient education.
It was founded in memory of Heather Weeks, who lost her life to cancer at age 24.
The donation will continue Heather’s dream of educating all women on the major symptoms of ovarian cancer and help to provide comfort to women and their families devastated by cancer, according to the donation announcement.
Linda and Bill Ziesenitz presented a $200 check to the Country Pantry in Clark Mills.
The pantry provides families with nutritious food in the Clinton, Clark Mills, and Westmoreland areas.
The mission is to partner with local churches and the community, to support families in need with nutritious food items.
