Drew Kopek, a senior at RFA who helped lead the Clinton unified girls hockey team to a state title this season, was named the co-player of the year in Section III.

Clinton senior Kopek named Section III co-player of the year

Drew Kopek, a senior at Rome Free Academy who helped lead the Clinton unified girls hockey team to a state title this season, was named the co-player of the year in Section III.

Kopek and Scout Oudemool, a junior who attends West Genesee and plays for Skaneateles, share player of the year honors.

Kopek led the Warriors with 19 goals and 14 assists. She became the program’s leading scorer this season as well.

Oudemool led her team with 12 goals and had four assists for the Lakers.

Three Clinton players were named to the first team, two to the second team and five were honorable mentions.

The first team is Clinton goalie Casey Clausen (Whitesboro sophomore), Clinton defenseman Alyssa Nardslico (RFA senior), defenseman Jordan Caroccio (Oswego senior), Clinton forward Kelsey Fuller (RFA junior) and Oswego forwards Alaina DiBlasi (sophomore) and Mia Fierro (senior).

The second team is Skaneateles goalie Belle Wells (West Genesee senior), Clinton defenseman Mackinley Ronan (New Hartford sophomore), Skaneateles senior defenseman Lilly Marquardt, Clinton sophomore forward Lauren Rey, Oswego sophomore forward Mischa Palmitesso and Skaneateles eighth grade forward Lilly Kennedy.

The honorable mentions are Clinton senior defensemen Sadie Davignon and Leah Hilton (New Hartford) and forwards Abigail Dicks (Whitesboro sophomore), Alexa Thompson (RFA sophomore) and Kate Elbrecht (New Hartford freshman); Skaneateles eighth grade defenseman Cora Major; and Oswego seniors Nyah Dawson (goalie), Izzy Dobson (forward-defense) and Rosie Wallace (forward-defense).
