Clinton Science Olympiad team moves on to state competition

CLINTON — Clinton Central School Science Olympiad teams participated in the Regional Science Olympiad Competition held at LeMoyne College in Syracuse on Jan. 26 and 27, placing third and moving on to the state-level competition.

The varsity team placed third out of 38 teams in the fiercely competitive Division C Midstate Region. For the first time in Coach Meredith Callaghan’s and Kathleen Washburn’s 19-year history, the team has advanced to states taking place on March 15 and 16, where they will compete against the top 55 teams in the state.

Team members are: Eva Borton, Leah Borton, Lauren Chmielewski, Mackenzie Siddon, Joey Pascucci, Andrew Krom, Sydni Dreimiller, Robert Musante, Mallory Wickline, Nick Gale, Matthew Gadziala, Yihan Xie, Karina Davis, Jacob Lewis, Maddi Walters, Savi Sodja, Wiley Gifford, Maggie Bailey, Joey DeTraglia, Victoria Elefante, Andrew Gadziala, Bart Hearn, David Henderson, Grace Johnson, Alayna Krom, Emmeline MacPherson, Lindsey Markowicz, Emily Le, Jason Rivera, Sky Walter, Olivia Wightman, Roxee Hughes, Sophie MacPherson, Rebecah Bashant and Casey Vechery.
