NEW HARTFORD — Accused of intentionally driving his van into Spa Point Nails in the Orchard Plaza, a 53-year-old man has been charged as part of an ongoing domestic dispute, according to the New Hartford Police Department.

Police said Wenzhi Hong, of Clinton, has been involved in an ongoing domestic dispute with a family member, and is affiliated with Spa Point Nails in the Orchard Plaza. At about 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, police said Hong drove his Toyota Sienna through the front entrance of the nail salon and then continued driving inside the building, intent on destroying the interior.

Responding officers were able to get Hong to stop and he was taken into custody.

Hong is charged with one count each of second-degree mischief, a class D felony, and driving while intoxicated, police said. He was arraigned in court and was sent to the county jail in lieu of bail. He is scheduled to reappear in court.
