The Clinton girls soccer team topped Westmoreland 5-1 on the road Friday in the Center State Conference. The Warriors improved to 4-0, allowing their first goal of the young season.
Paige Luke scored on an assist from Avery Maxam, then Maxam tallied one on an assist from Luke. Kaitlyn Williams scored on a penalty kick then Alexa Bohling got a goal with an asist from Jessica Gale. Riley Jones also scored unassisted.
Westmoreland’s goal was scored on penalty kick by Mary Muller.
Westmoreland goalkeeper Emily Gubbins made 11 saves. Clinton’s Kaitlyn Williams did not face any shots on goal.
Clinton hosts Oriskany at 4:30 p.m. Monday. Westmoreland travels to Sauquoit Valley Thursday at 6 p.m.
HP field hockey romps again
Holland Patent put up nine goals in another field hockey win, this time 9-0 against Mount Markham at home in the Center State Conference.
The Golden Knights have won their first three games 9-1, 9-1 and now 9-0.
Hanna Corrigan led HP with three goals and two assist. Maggie Cummings had two goals and two assists. Anna Healey scored and added two assists. Adding a goal each were Maja Helmer, Haley Acevedo and Natalie Yutzler. Michaela Cushman had an assist.
Ella Buchanan and Lyla Cushman each appeared in goal for Holland Patent, though neither faced a shot.
Mount Markham’s Haylee Lee made 19 saves.
The Knights travel to Sauquoit Valley Monday at 7 p.m.
Clinton gets two hat tricks in win
Gianna Trunfio and Jenna Deep each scored three times in a 7-1 win for Clinton at Herkimer in the CSC.
Trunfio also had two assists and Deep had one. Finley Davignon scored the Warriors’ other goal. Hannah Litz and Natalie Hearn each dished out an assist.
Sydney Labayewski made three saves in goal for Clinton in the win.
Clinton improves to 5-0 on the season. They play next at Mount Markham at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Camden tops VVS
The Camden field hockey team defeated Vernon-Verona-Sherrill 5-1 on the road in a Tri-Valley League contest. It was the Red Devils’ Senior Night and first game of the season.
Mackenzie Mix scored twice and had an assist for Camden. Ashley Hilts scored twice as well. Emily Walker got Camden’s other score. Earning an assist each in the win were Brooklyn Capron, Erin Meagher and Summer Wall.
Scoring for VVS was Arayla Garcia with an assist from Riley Cosimeno.
VVS’ Kelsey Wickham had 10 saves.
Next up for Camden (2-2) is Whitesboro at home at 6 p.m. Monday.
VVS will play Monday at Central Valley Academy at 4:30 p.m.
