CLINTON — The Clinton Central School District Board of Education announced the temporary appointment of Dave Langone as the interim superintendent of schools at their meeting on June 7. Langone will temporarily fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Clinton superintendent of schools Dr. Steve Grimm at the end of the 2021-2022 school year.

Langone will begin duties as the interim superintendent of schools on July 1, as the Clinton Board of Education continues their search for the next permanent superintendent of schools.

“The Clinton Board of Education looks forward to working with Mr. Langone and continuing our successes as we transition through this summer and begin a new school year in the fall,” said Melinda Leising, president of the Clinton Central School District Board of Education. “Mr. Langone, an educator for more than 40 years, brings with him many skills and a wealth of experience that will help to quickly bridge the gap during this transition as we search for and select our new superintendent.”

Following his retirement as Superintendent of Schools at the Whitesboro Central School District in 2016, Langone served as Interim Superintendent of Schools for the New Hartford Central School District in 2021.

In addition to his eight years with the Whitesboro Central School District, Langone previously served as superintendent of the New York Mills Union Free School District for nine years. Prior to becoming superintendent at New York Mills, he was the district’s assistant superintendent and junior-senior high principal for seven years. Langone was also an assistant principal, teacher and coach in several schools, including the Holland Patent Central School District, New York Mills Union Free School District, Utica Catholic Schools, Utica City School District and Frankfort Central School District, where his career in education began.
