Clerk charged in underage drinking sting operation

ALDER CREEK — A clerk at the Cliff’s Local Market on Route 12 has been charged following an underage drinking sting operation by the state police, the law enforcers have reported.

Troopers said they conducted the underage drinking
sting operation on 11 businesses on June 4 in the areas of Forestport, Boonville, Webb and
Alder Creek. All but one of the businesses, from convenience stores to bars, was in compliance and did not sell alcohol to
the underage agents, troopers said.

The Cliff’s Local Market on Route 12 in Alder Creek was the only business that violated the law, the state police authorities stated.

The clerk that sold the alcohol, 26-year-old KaSarah J. Rios, of Forestport, is charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and prohibitive sale of alcohol, troopers said.

She was released on an appearance ticket to Boonville Town Court on June 15 to answer the charge, according to the state police.
