BARNEVELD — Unity Hall is kicking off summer with an upbeat evening of classic rock by Central NY’s Better Than Bowling and some hot blues by Syracuse’s Colin Aberdeen at 8 p.m. Friday, June 17, in the hall’s historic auditorium at 101 Vanderkemp Ave. in Barneveld.

Doors will open at 7:15 p.m.

Better Than Bowling is a five-piece classic rock group that delivers powerful vocal harmonies, spot-on solos and an all-around blast of a trip through time and musical space.

Their repertoire extends from Crosby Stills & Nash and The Indigo Girls to Tom Petty and The Ventures to Jimi Hendrix.

This high-energy group features Arty Lenin, a founding member of the power pop bands The Flashcubes and Screentest and recipient of the Best Rock Instrumentalist award from the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYS).

Also featured is vocalist Sharon Allen whose strong, passionate voice and intense delivery have made her a central New York favorite with a devoted fan base.

George Newton brings his unique pedal steel guitar voicings to the group, which is rounded out by the talented Tom Navagh on electric bass and Wayne Stevens on drums.

Colin Aberdeen is the front man for the genre-defying roots rockers Los Blancos.

He has earned a variety of awards in his career including a Sammy award for Best Blues Vocalist, and repeat honors of Favorite Guitarist and Vocalist in the Syracuse New Times’ Readers’ Polls. As a singer/songwriter/ guitarist, Aberdeen is active with local groups including The Westcott Jugsuckers, The Barking Loungers and Los Blancos.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door for the general public and $20 for Unity Hall members.

Advance tickets can be purchased at www.unityhall.com and at the Adirondack Cheese Company in Barneveld. Proof of COVID vaccination is required. Masks are recommended.
