ROME — The Civil Air Patrol, the civilian auxiliary of the Air Force, best known for its search and rescue and disaster relief efforts for the last 80 years, is holding a statewide training exercise at Griffiss International Airport.

Civil Air Patrol officials said that approximately 10 airplanes and 40 to 50 ground personnel and aircrews, both adult and teenagers, will converge at the airport from across the state today to participate in the event.
