Santa and Mrs. Claus will help the City of Rome light its municipal Christmas tree on Wednesday, Nov. 21 in the Veteran’s and Gansevoort parks on the corner of Court and James streets.
The evening’s activities will start at 5:30 p.m. and feature the Trinkaus Village light and decoration display, food, fireworks and music with Scott Rutledge and the Greater CNY Christmas Choir, The Knights of the Mohawk Barbershop Chorus, and Strough Middle School teacher Anne Gannon and the Strough and Alumni Band.
The actual tree-lighting and fireworks display will be between 6:50 and 7 p.m., according to the city announcement.
Children are invited to bring their holiday wish lists and take a picture with Santa inside the Rome Historical Society.
Only severely inclement weather will postpone the event, which has no rain date, the city announcement added.
The event is sponsored by the Bobby Page Foundation and Joe Fazio Auto Sales, according to event organizers.
