Cinema Capitol to feature comedy ‘Blithe Spirit’

Cinema Capitol, 230 W. Dominick St., will present the comedy Blithe Spirit beginning Friday, Feb. 19.

Blithe Spirit is based on Noël Coward’s 1941 play of the same name. Starring Judi Dench, Dan Stevens, Isla Fisher, Leslie Mann, and Dave Johns, the plot follows an eccentric spiritualist medium who holds a séance for a crime novelist suffering from writer’s block.

In a shocking turn of events, the medium accidentally summons the spirit of the writer’s rowdy first wife, leading to an increasingly complex love triangle with his prim and proper current wife of five years.

Blithe Spirit will play on select days from Friday,
Feb. 19, through Thursday, March 1. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 4:15 and 7:15 p.m., Sundays at 1:15 and 4:15 p.m., and Mondays at 7:15 p.m. The movie will include captions for the hearing-impaired for the Friday 4:15 and Sunday 1:15 p.m. show times.

All patrons are required to wear masks for the duration of the movie, unless eating or drinking. Parties will be socially-distanced at least 6 feet apart.

Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance at www.romecapitol.com. Admission is $8 for adults; $7 for students and military; and $6 for Capitol “Friends.”

Blithe Spirit runs 95 minutes and is rated PG-13.
