DURHAMVILLE — Durhamville Baptist Church, 5294 Broad St., honored member Sue Geer with the 2019 Servants Award on May 19.
The Servants Award has become an annual award given out for a person’s stewardship in the church. The person selected is chosen because of their willingness to serve in many ways.
The selection process is done by secret ballet and announced during the morning worship hour. A dinner is held in the evening where the recipient is recognized for their service in the church.
Sue Geer serves the church in many ways using her talents to decorate the bulletin boards in the appropriate themes for each season of the year. She steps up whenever needed to serve on several committees, and is always willing to lend a hand where needed, the nominators said. She also serves as the church clerk, is active in the Adult Sunday School class and serves on the Christian Education Committee, in addition to singing in the church choir.
The Rev. Robert Casler, pastor, said that Geer is deserving of the award because she does so much without ever being asked and is almost always behind the scenes. “She truly demonstrates what it means to serve as the hands-on,” Casler said.
