Chubbuck Foundation to hold golf tourney Aug. 6 at RCC

ROME — The Joseph Michael Chubbuck Foundation is inviting local golfers to Rome Country Club on Saturday, Aug. 6, to participate in a tournament to raise funds to assist Central New York cancer patients.

Funds raised help patients currently in treatment with monies for gas, rent, groceries, needed medical equipment, and utility bills.

Registration is now open online at thejmcf.org under “Events” or by calling the JMCF Office 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 315-339-5993.

Registration the day of the event begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $85 per golfer, with teams of four. The fee includes: 18 rounds of golf with carts; continental breakfast; lunch at the turn; dinner of Italian chicken, pulled pork with Hawaiian rolls, garlic-Parmesan potatoes, Italian greens, macaroni-and-cheese and coleslaw, along with dessert at the conclusion; and a several commemorative items per golfer, such as a shot glass, team picture, golf tees and a JMCF golf hat.

The top three teams will receive cash prizes, and additional awards will be presented for Longest Drive (male and female), and Closest to the Pin. Several door prizes have been donated, along with a $1,000 Hole in One cash prize.

The JMCF has financially assisted patients in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, and Onondaga counties since 2015. The foundation has been the recipient of grants from Walmart DC, Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation for several years, and the Griffin Charitable Foundation (2021).

JMCF works closely with Oneida Health Foundation, Mohawk Valley Health System, Slocum-Dickson Medical Group, Bassett Cancer Institute in Herkimer, Upstate Cancer Center and affiliated offices, Dana Faber, CNY Hematology/Oncology, Roswell Park and affiliated offices, Memorial Sloan Kettering, University of Rochester and several other cancer offices.
