ROME — A 27-year-old woman is accused of attacking and threatening another woman on Kossuth Street in Rome, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said the victim returned home at about 5:47 p.m. June 19 and Taylor M. Whooten, of Rome, was waiting for her. Police said Whooten ran up to the vehicle and threw open the passenger side door, where the victim was sitting.

Whooten grabbed the victim around the neck and started choking her, then threatened the victim with a pocket knife, police stated. A child was in the back seat of the vehicle and witnessed the attack, authorities said.

The case was turned over to Rome City Court and a summons was issued for Whooten. She answered the summons on Wednesday.

Whooten is charged with one count each of second-degree menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing and endangering the welfare of a child, police stated. She is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
