Charles N. Sharrow, age 84, of Rome, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2018, with his family at his side.
He was born October 18, 1933, in Whallonsburg, NY, a son of Charles H. and Norma R. Derby Sharrow. He was educated in Whallonsburg schools. Charles was united in marriage to the former Caroline Gadwaw on November 10, 1955, in Rome; a blessed marriage of 62 years. He was formerly employed by Felice Trucking, Moving and Storage and later worked and retired from Rite Aid. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Henry P. Smith Post #24, American Legion and a life member of the Moose Club.
Charles was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He also was extremely proud of his beautiful gardens that he grew every year.
Charles is survived by his wife, Caroline; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Steve Hall of Winter Garden, FL, Karen and Louis Lastowicka of Marcy, and Deborah and Sean Worth of Winter Garden, Fl; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Debra Sharrow of Rome, and Douglas and Susan Sharrow of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Frances and Kay Sharrow of Queensbury, NY; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister and 5 brothers.
The funeral service with Military Honors, will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Barry Funeral Home, 807 W. Chestnut Street.
