ONEIDA — Charles F. Tracy, 90, formerly of Farrier Avenue, passed away on Sunday morning, January 3, 2021, in the Extended Care Facility of Oneida Health, where he had been a resident for the past five weeks.
Born in Ogdensburg on June 15, 1930, Charlie was the son of Floyd and Helen O’Field Tracy. A lifelong resident of the area, Chuck was educated in Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central School. He married Barbara A. Haynes in Churchville on July 5, 1984.
Prior to his retirement, Charlie was the owner and operator of Tracy’s Automotive and had formerly been employed with the former Griffiss Air Force Base as an aircraft mechanic.
Chuck was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1952-1956. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an accomplished woodworker. Charlie was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving besides his wife Barbara are one daughter, Malinda Barkschat of Louisiana; three sons, Bernard (Sue) Tracy of Liverpool, David Tracy of Rome and Mark (Cindy) Tracy of Munnsville; one step-daughter, Cynthis (William) Driscoll of Oneida; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters, Beverly Budlong, Dolores Davies, Lorraine Millson and Joyce Downing.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida with the Reverend Donna Chapman, officiating. Interment will be made in Rathbunville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Friday. Contributions may be made to a wildlife foundation of your choice.
