Chamber to issue honors at upcoming event

ROME — Rome Area Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its 110th anniversary with a special 110th Anniversary Business Meeting on Tuesday, June 7, at Delta Lake Inn, 8524 Fish Hatchery Road, according to an announcement by the business organization.

The event features not just an opportunity to discuss the vital work and mission of the Rome Area Chamber of Commerce, officials add, but also to help recognize several individuals and businesses that are helping to make a big impact on the economic revitalization of the city and region.

Among the individuals and organizations to be honored at the 2022 event include:

-Bonacio Construction, Inc., which has developed the Air City Lofts apartment complex as well as other facilities on the Griffiss Business and Technology Park;

-The Griffiss Institute, which is helping to facilitate the emergence of high technology transfer and support the growth of the technology sector at the Griffiss Business and Technology Park;

-AmeriCU Credit Union, which continues to expand and invest in the city and region and support the economic well-being of the region and upstate New York, and

-Wes Cupp, owner of Rome Country Club, 5342 Rome-Taberg Road, and director of business development at the Sentinel Media Co., with offices at 111 Langley Road, Rome; and 421 Broad St., Utica.

The guest speaker for this year’s 110th Anniversary Business Meeting will be Rome Health President and CEO AnneMarie Walker-Czyz. Rome Health is in the midst of a major, $13 million capital project, which when finished will help bring a variety of medical and health care providers and services, currently scattered across the city and region together on the Rome Health campus, 1500 N. James St.

Check-in for this year’s event will begin at 7:30 a.m., with the buffet breakfast at 7:40 a.m. The program will begin at 8 a.m. Cost is $39 per person.
