CFLR to host prescription, OTC drug take back event
The Center for Family Life and Recovery (CFLR) has scheduled a Fall Take Back Day to collect unused, expired or unwanted prescriptions and over the counter medications.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at 50 Forward Verona Beach, 6734 Route 13, in Verona Beach.
The drive-through take back event will go on rain or shine, organizers said.
Since October 2016, the Center for Family Life and Recovery has been committed to enhancing prevention efforts in the community to decrease risky behaviors, addiction, and overdoses by promoting the Med Return Units and Community Take Back Days.
The CFLR monitors the amount of these medications collected during these events and has received — and properly disposed of — more than 23,000 pounds to date.
The organization hopes to reach its goal of 30,000 pounds by the end of October 2023.
The Center for Family Life and Recovery as part of its growing Oneida County Prevention Services, and in conjunction with the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and local police departments, offers the Take Back events to collect unused/or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications, including pet medications.
