Cazenovia College goes on the market
CAZENOVIA — With two campuses, a state-of-the-art equestrian center, and 500,000 square feet of buildings over 271 acres, Cazenovia College is on the market and accepting offers.
A&G Real Estate Partners have listed the college campus on their website at agrep-sales.com/Cazenovia. The main campus is listed as having “... dormitories with 600+ beds, full athletic facilities, and a well maintained historic campus 20 minutes from Syracuse.”
A&G Real Estate is accepting offers for the Cazenovia campus.
Cazenovia Supervisor William Zupan said that there was no way to know the future of the property “... until we know who buys the bonds. “[Until then], all we can do is wait,” he said.
Cazenovia Village Mayor Kurt Wheeler said the property has been listed for about a month and that the village has met with A&G Real Estate Partners and offered the village’s assistance and input.
“Our goal is to try and find uses compatible with the existing zoning and character of the area,” Wheeler said. “We’ve had a good meeting with A&G and we’re hoping to establish a good relationship as they pursue that goal.”
With 20 different tax parcels making up Cazenovia College, Wheeler said the last thing that they’d want to see is it being sold off piece by piece. Instead, the village is seeking a holistic use of the campus that recreates the economic and social impact Cazenovia College had on the area.
“We’re hopeful that whatever the final use is, it will be something that will make use of a majority of the campus and create that positive impact the College did for two centuries,” Wheeler said.
“The property has a lot of potential,” Madison County Chairman John Becker said. “I can only hope that whoever purchases the property makes great use of the historic campus that benefits the community of the village and the county. I look forward to seeing what may be the next chapter for Cazenovia and Madison County.”
