On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Romans will have an opportunity to exercise their most precious democratic right: The right to vote. Through our votes, we will help shape Rome’s quality of life by voicing our priorities moving forward. Our choice to be the president of the Common Council is paramount to ensuring that our needs and wants are included in critical decisions as Rome continues to expand its economic base. Evidence that Rome is experiencing a resurgence of growth is tangible and the fact of future growth demands that Romans participate in the electoral process now.

The candidate best suited to facilitate the process by which Rome’s elected leaders and citizen stakeholders create and enact smart sustainable public policy is Carolyn Trela-Ferlo. She is a leader whose bipartisan skills can inspire all stakeholders to work for the positive common good.

Compromise and consensus building are the hallmarks of successful leadership, and Carolyn has the intrinsic personal qualities that will prove policy decisions rooted in the traditions of ethical, honest and transparent behavior. Her decades spent in public education and community engagement make Carolyn uniquely qualified to lead Rome through a period of smart growth that will receive broad support among our families friends and neighbors. Carolyn Trela-Ferlo deserves our votes. Choose transparency, inclusion and bipartisanship on Election Day.

— Charles J. Vaccaro, Rome
