Carol Jean DeFabio
Carol Jean DeFabio, 88, of Whitesboro, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022 at the Katherine Luther Residential Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Carol was born on August 6, 1933, in Utica, the daughter of Charles and Antoinette (Paolozzi) Marasco. Carol was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School and continued to play an active role in helping plan and organize the annual reunions, which she did with joy. She married Arnold DeFabio on October 8, 1955. She was employed as an accountant with General Electric Co. in Utica, until her retirement in 1990. Carol was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro.
Carol cared for her sons immensely, and that care was extended to her daughters-in-law. She thought the world of her granddaughter, with whom she had a very close relationship. In her early years, Carol enjoyed a game of golf and belonged to the GE Bowling league at Pinorama. She was a very talented oil painter and taught ceramics in her spare time. Carol also enjoyed cooking and sharing her recipes.
Surviving are her sons, Arnold (Sally) DeFabio, Las Vegas and Michael (Stacy) DeFabio, Whitesboro; granddaughter, Samantha DeFabio; sisters-in-law, Lucille Marasco and Darlene (Bruce) Evans. She was predeceased by her brother, Phillip Marasco, sisters-in-law, Marie Manus and Ann (Herm) Cragnolin and brother-in-law, Jamie DeFabio.
Carol’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Lutheran Home for all their wonderful care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to Memorial Services on Tuesday May 17 at 11:30 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Whitesboro. The family will receive guests at the conclusion of the Mass. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Arrangements are with Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro.
