CLINTON — Carleton Paul Converse, Jr., 67, of Clinton, went home to the Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2021. His passing was unexpected, due to natural causes.

Carl was born in Rome, NY, on December 30, 1953, the son of Carleton P., Sr. and Therese (Dempsey) Converse. He was a 1973 graduate of Utica Free Academy and attended MVCC. Carl worked several decades in local restaurants and was currently employed with the Fort Schuyler Club in Utica. When he wasn’t working, Carl enjoyed watching old movies and spending time playing with his dog, “Bug.” Carl also loved talking with everyone and his eyes would light up, as he could discuss any subject. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Carl is survived by three brothers: Timothy Patrick Converse and his wife, Kathy Anne, of Marcy; Wayne Matthew Converse and his wife, Arlene Anne, of Cicero; and Kevin Converse, of Clinton; two sisters: Mary Therese Converse, of Clinton; and Elizabeth Celine Droz, of Whitesboro. Carl is also survived by his beautiful nephews and nieces: Timothy Converse, Jr. and his wife, Jenny; Brian Converse and his wife, Lauren; Mary George and her husband, Ryan; Joy Vanderhoof and her husband, Andrew; Matthew Converse and Justin Converse, as well as several cherished great nieces and nephews.

Carl’s funeral will be held on Thursday, July 22, 2021, at 9:15 a.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Road, N. Utica and 10 a.m. at Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica, where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. His Rite of Committal and burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Rome. Visitation for family and friends is Wednesday, July 21, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
