One woman was hospitalized after her motor vehicle crashed into the front of Domino’s pizza in the Freedom Plaza Sunday night, according to city fire officials.
Authorities said the woman was pulling into a parking space in front of the pizzeria at about 8:43 p.m. when her foot slipped and hit the gas pedal. Officials said her vehicle surged forward through the glass facade at the front of the restaurant, pushing several tables in the seating area.
No customers were inside Domino’s at the time, officials said, and no employees were injured. Authorities said the driver was able to pull back out of the store under the vehicle’s own power.
The driver, whose identity was not available this morning, was then taken to Rome Memorial Hospital for evaluation.
The Rome Police accident report was not immediately available today.
