ORISKANY — A Rome man’s car caught fire while driving on Route 49 in Oriskany this morning. Ken Adsit was driving to work on Oct. 13 at around when he started hearing a knocking in his engine.
“The engine cut out, so I pulled over,” Adsit explained. “Then the engine started smoking and it just caught on fire.”
Adsit was in the car when he first saw the flames and quickly got out before calling 911. The Stittville Volunteer Fire Department were on the scene at approximately 8 a.m.
Adsit was unharmed and no worse for wear, but there was one thing that frustrated him.
“I just filled it up with gas,” he said with a laugh. “That’s the worst part.”
The Stittville Volunteer Fire Department responded with the Oriskany Fire Department and New York State Troopers assisting.
