CANASTOTA — This Valentine’s Day, people can express their support for the Canastota Public Library as the organization hosts its “Show Your Home a Little Love” fundraiser.

As part of the event, the library will raffle off four prizes, including:

-Three accent chairs that were restored by the Library Caners;

-A book table that can be used as an end table, a bedside table or a plant stand;

-A Tiffany-style hanging pendant light; and

-An oil painting of a beach scene by artist Agnes Whitmeyer.

All items will be on display at the library on the first floor, near the Circulation Desk. Raffle tickets will be available at the Desk for $1 each or 6 for $5. Tickets will be available beginning through Feb. 14. Winners will be drawn on Feb. 14 by the close of business.

This fundraiser will benefit the library’s partnership with The Dolly Parton Imagination Library. Through the DPIL, children from birth to age 5 can receive an age-appropriate book through the Dolly Parton Foundation. The book is sent directly to the child’s home. There are currently more than 300 children in this very successful early literacy program. While the Dolly Parton Foundation offsets most of the costs of this program, the library is responsible for part of the costs of the book as well as the mailing costs. The library costs are more than $7,000 per year to provide this program to children who live in the 13032 zip code.

The Canastota Public Library is located at 102. W. Center Street in Canastota. The library has been providing services to the community since 1896.
