Camden woman accused of attacking another woman with baseball bat

UTICA — A Camden woman is accused of attacking another woman with a baseball bat in Utica, according to law enforcement officials.

Police said Ashley Balandis, 33, of Camden, was in an argument with another woman inside a residence in the 1800 block of Blandina St. on Aug. 25. Police said Balandis grabbed a silver baseball bat and started hitting the other woman in the legs.

The victim fled the residence and contacted law enforcement. Authorities said she was not significantly injured.

Following an investigation, police said Balandis was taken into custody on Thursday. Balandis is charged with one count each of attempted second-degree assault and third-degree possession of a weapon, police stated. She is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
