Butterfly Release Celebration scheduled for July 22

NEW HARTFORD — The Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. Development Council will hold its annual Butterfly Release Celebration on Wednesday, July 22 with new ways to participate this year.

All are welcome to purchase a butterfly. The event is not limited to only those who have used hospice services. Butterflies must be reserved in advance. For more information visit www.hospicecareinc.org to order online or download an order form, or call 315-735-6484.

Sponsorship is $25 per butterfly or five for $100. If you are not able to pick up butterflies for release, butterflies can be released for you. The proceeds will support hospice care, palliative services and bereavement support to those who reside in Oneida, Herkimer and Madison counties.

Area residents can pick up their butterflies and release them with family and friends at a location special to them, and receive a special program recognizing all of those being honored. A video program will also be available on Hospice’s Facebook page and website.

This year butterflies will be available for pick up at the following locations:

Hospice & Palliative Care – 4277 Middle Settlement Road, from noon to 6 p.m.

Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment – 1340 Floyd Ave., from 3-6 p.m.

Herkimer College – College Center – 100 Reservoir Road, Herkimer, from 3-6 p.m.

Oneida Health Cancer Care Radiation Oncology Affiliate of Roswell Park Care Network – 601 Seneca St., Oneida, from 3-6 p.m.

A life-affirming expression of hope and peace, the Butterfly Release Celebration offers a unique opportunity to honor or memorialize loved ones by sponsoring a butterfly in their name.

“We are so pleased to offer a safe way to continue this touching remembrance this year,” stated event Co-Chair Pat Robinson.

Sponsors of this event include Gilroy Kernan & Gilroy, NBT Bank, Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment, The Golub Foundation, The Observer-Dispatch, Townsquare Media, and WKTV NewsChannel 2.
