Buttenschon celebrates First Responders Day

UTICA — Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon, D-119, Marcy, hosted a first responder appreciation event celebrating First Responders Day on Friday, Oct. 8, at the Utica State Office Building.

“Whether they’re members of law enforcement, firefighters, EMS providers and all other first responders, they make incredible sacrifices to protect our communities,” Buttenschon said during her remarks.

“We witnessed their brave and heroic actions on Sept. 11, 2001, we’ve seen their fearlessness during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we continue to see it every day as they risk their own lives in service to others,” Buttenschon added.

Utica Coffee Roasting Company donated coffee for the appreciation event, while Holland Farms Bakery and Deli prepared and donated pastries, Buttenschon’s office announced.

First responders in attendance Friday were presented with a copy of the Legislative Resolution co-sponsored by Assemblywoman Buttenschon, officially designating Oct. 8, as First Responders Day in the State of New York.
