ROME — Accused of breaking his ex-girlfriend's electronics, a Rome man is facing multiple charges, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police said Santino P. Schipano, 20, went to his ex-girlfriend's apartment on Hangar Avenue at about 11:17 a.m. Feb. 11 without her permission. Once inside, police said Schipano broke her television set during an argument.

When his ex-girlfriend tried to call 911 for help, police said Schipano snatched her phone out of her hands and smashed it, police said, adding Schipano also broke the woman's iPad over his knee when she tried to contact a friend, and he stomped on her laptop.

The victim was eventually able to get in touch with her friend and Schipano left the apartment, police said. He turned himself in to Rome Police Wednesday morning.

Schipano is charged with one count each of second-degree burglary and third-degree mischief, both felonies, as well as three counts of fourth-degree mischief, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Rome City Court.
