Building Trades Council endorses candidates in Rome, Utica races


The Central and Northern New York Building Trades and Construction Trades Council has endorsed candidates for elected office in Rome, the council announced.

The candidates listed were screened by council members. “Their concern and understanding of the issues that affect our members and their families have earned them the support of our council,” the organization said.

The endorsed candidates are incumbent Jackie Izzo for mayor, and for Common Council, Cam Tien in Ward 1; Shelly Gardner, Ward 2; Ramona Smith, Ward 4; Samantha Hallenbeck, Ward 5; Carolyn Ferio, council president.

The council also endorsed candidates in Utica, including Joe Marino for mayor. For Common Council, endorsed were Celeste Friend, 3rd District; Fred Brezzese, 4th; Delvin Moody, 5th; Fank DiBrango, Hanka Grabovica and Jack LoMedico, at-large; Judy Galimo, council president. Also endorsed for Utica school board was Bob Cardillo.
