Brooklyn Pickle sets April 17 opening date for Utica site

UTICA — Almost a year after announcing that Syracuse staple Brooklyn Pickle is coming to Utica, a date has been set for a grand opening.

The Utica location of Brooklyn Pickle, 600 State St., will open on Monday, April 17. The anticipated hours of operation are scheduled to be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Brooklyn Pickle is a well-known staple in the Syracuse area, known for its giant sandwiches, quick service and being a destination for many people in the Mohawk Valley.

What will set the Utica store apart from the other Syracuse locations is that it will be the first Brooklyn Pickle store to offer beer on its menu.

Originally set to open in March 2023, the store’s grand opening was delayed due to construction.

“[The menu] will be very similar to our three Syracuse locations,” said Craig Kowadla, owner and president of Brooklyn Pickle. “In addition to giant sandwiches, subs, soups and desserts, customers will enjoy daily specials including Friday mac-and-cheese and, of course, Brooklyn Pickle’s signature pickles.”

“People have been trying to catch glimpses of what to expect from this new location and they won’t be disappointed,” Kowadla added. “We’ll have exposed brick and stone, a neon sign, a Brooklyn Bridge wall-wrap and high-top chess and backgammon tables.”

Brooklyn Pickle currently has three stores in Syracuse, with Utica becoming the fourth. A Brooklyn Pickle store in North Carolina is expected to open this summer, becoming the first store outside of New York state.
