Break-in scare deemed false alarm

BOONVILLE — A break-in scare on Schuyler Street in Boonville Thursday evening ended up being a false alarm, according to law enforcement officials.

Sheriff’s deputies said a resident on Schuyler Street called 9-1-1 at about 6:50 p.m. for fear that someone was breaking into their home.

Deputies said the suspected burglar was initially believed to be known to the victim, and was known to possess weapons in the past.

The Sheriff’s Office and state police set up a perimeter around the home and the SWAT team was sent in to search. Authorities said no people were found in the residence and no burglary occurred.
