Break-in reported at Bagel Grove in Utica
UTICA — A Utica man is accused of breaking into the Bagel Grove restaurant very early Sunday morning, according to the Utica Police Department.
Police said Ronald Ward, 30, broke several windows and doors to gain entry to the Bagel Grove on Burrstone Road around 1:45 a.m. Sunday. Security cameras were able to show Ward inside the store and law enforcement was notified.
When officers arrived on the scene, police said Ward hid behind a piece of equipment in the store and refused to come out. The officers eventually went in and forcefully removed Ward from the building, authorities stated.
While being escorted to a waiting squad car, police said Ward spit on the officers several times.
Ward is charged with one count each of third-degree burglary, second-degree harassment and fourth-degree mischief, police said. He is scheduled to appear in Utica City Court.
