Brain aneurysm group to meet

ROME — The local chapter of the Joe Niekro Foundation Brain Aneurysm Support Group has returned to gathering in-person. Meetings take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on the second Monday of each month in the social hall at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St.

“We welcome all individuals affected by brain aneurysm, arteriovenous malformation (AVM), hemorrhagic stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI) who are in need of support and information,” an announcement by the group reads.

“Feel free to invite family, friends, and caretakers as they are welcomed as well. ... The social hall is downstairs and is a very nice and spacious room,” the announcement added. “There is an elevator for those that can’t navigate stairs. We park in the back parking lot and go in that door. There is ample parking.”

Dr. Satish Krishnamurthy will speak at the upcoming support group meeting on Monday, April 11. Krishnamurthy is a neurosurgeon and professor of neurology at Upstate University Hospital. There is plenty of seating, chapter representatives say, but they ask that those planning to attend call 315-533-6467 and leave a message or email: so they can get an approximate count.
